SD Mines Tablets and ArcGIS

I have verified that the hardware specs for the Fujitsu Lifebook T726, Lifebook P728 and even the T901 tablets pass the minimum requirements for ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap).

But that doesn't mean you can't do things to increase ArcGIS performance. You can squeeze a lot more performance out of ArcGIS applications if you allow them more random access memory (RAM).

1. Before you start an ArcGIS application, log out and log in again to clear any applications from memory (visible or not) that may compete for memory with ArcGIS.

2. Copy your project to a thumb drive (be sure and back it up!) and try working on a lab laptop (like the ones in MI 325) that have more memory and CPU available than your tablet. This may be helpful advice if your term project is bogged down by your slow ArcGIS performance!

3. You can add RAM to your SD Mines tablet without invalidating your rental agreement.

Here are some supported RAM upgrades for SD Mines tablets, with examples from Crucial.com. (Of course you can buy RAM from anywhere, as long as you get the right chip!)
