In the field of Computational Mechanics, Dr. Muci enjoys working on projects that require the formulation of a mathematical model, the selection and/or development of an appropriate numerical method to solve the equations involved in the mathematical model, and the implementation of the numerical method in the digital computer. He finds multidisciplinary projects particularly challenging and interesting. Up to now, his main focus has been in the area of Solid Mechanics and in the Boundary Element Method and the Finite Element Method. Also, the use of existing Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) software tools to solve complex solid mechanics problems is an avenue that he can easily pursue as a researcher and as a consultant.
Nowadays consumers have higher expectations of the products that they want to buy. The refinement of existing product development processes and the development of new tools are of particular importance to meet the more demanding market requirements. Dr. Muci has particular interest to explore new ways in which the needs of customers located in different geographical regions (countries) can be effectively incorporated into the design process to create products with a flexible architecture that allows to satisfy those different sets of needs using a common product platform.
Dr. Muci also has interest in the study of the dynamic response of mechanical systems. Although it is not his major area of expertise, his background allows him to conduct research and consulting work in this particular field.
