Research Title: Rules of life in SRB biofilms interacting with Metal Materials

Biofilm induced corrosion represents multi-million-dollar loss in myriad of oil and gas sectors including civil water infrastructure, marine manufacturing and plethora of engineering and medical applications. To combat the damage the underlying mechanism of biofilm formation will be unraveled using epigenetic analysis that will be done to identify the central mechanism that supports biofilm formation. Analysis of key gene expressions when metals are coated with 2D materials will be carried out along with the metabolomic studies unveiling the bacterial responses to variations in physiological, electrochemical, and surface properties.
