Research Interests

My interest is broadly in mixing applications for non-Newtonian fluids. Mixing applications are relevant in all fields: liquid-liquid (miscible), liquid-liquid (immiscible), solid-liquid, gas-liquid, and multiphase, which encompasses all of industry. This interest means that I see a variety of applications from cosmetics to aerospace components. My current research and development tasks focus on side-entry mixing in petroleum storage tanks, in which scale-up design is crucial to the sizing and blend prediction. I also perform work with gas-dispersion applications and the impeller performance, mass transfer, and development of sizing guidelines.
