Research Interests
As additive manufacturing (AM) continues to replace common manufacturing progresses, the demand for improving AM processes and materials has also increased. We are contributing to these technological improvements by investigating new thermoplastics, while changing and improving their mechanical characteristics for their suitability with specific applications. While developing new polymers, the design process and manufacturing of these polymers become important. We use thermal, rheological, and dynamic mechanical analysis on these new polymers and relate their structure-property relationships with the 3D-printing profiles. We are also comparing different 3D-printing processes, such as FFF and DLP, to commonly used injection molding.
